Disney’s Blizzard Beach Re-Opens

Blizzard Beach at Walt Disney World has welcomed back guests after being closed for nearly 12 months. This is  one of several major gated attractions in Orlando slowly resuming operations. Disney’s Blizzard Beach is one of two water parks on the resort property and reopened this week after being closed since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Orlando Business Journal reports that  “the attraction is operating with new safety protocols, according to the Disney Parks Blog:

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is operating in alignment with the health and safety measures implemented throughout Walt Disney World Resort such as enhanced cleaning, temperature checks and physical distancing. Guests (ages 2 and up) and cast members will also be required to wear face coverings while visiting Blizzard Beach. Guests may remove masks while traveling to the water slides but masks will not be permitted in the water or on the attractions.

Typhoon Lagoon, Disney other water park, remains closed. The park’s website has no mention of a reopening date.

The tourism and travel industry still is recovering from the effects of the pandemic. Disney is operating its parks at limited capacity — approximately 35% — to help control crowds.”
