Tube Down the Spring Run at Blue Spring State Park

While Blue Spring State Park is the winter home to hundreds of manatees, for the rest of the year, it’s home to only a few, floating in the constant 72-degree, crystal-clear spring water. During the majority of the year, the spring run of Blue Spring opens for swimming, tubing, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Equipment is available for rent at the center of the park, with canoes and kayaks available further down the spring run.

Explore the Depths

While you’re in the water, why not work on getting your scuba certification? Based in Orange City, Florida Dive Company offers various classes, including beginner scuba diving training, advanced training, specialty courses, and refresher courses. Additionally, they offer multiple scuba experiences for those short on time, allowing exploration of the underwater world. Already a certified diver? They also provide Guided Adventure Dives at some of Florida’s top-rated fresh and saltwater locations year-round.

Cool off in DeLeon Springs

DeLeon Springs State Park is a favorite for fishing, canoeing, and pontooning. Like its sister spring at Blue Spring State Park, DeLeon Springs’ water remains at a constant 72 degrees, making it great for swimming, scuba diving, and snorkeling. While you’re there, check out the Old Sugar Mill Restaurant. Known for its pancakes, the restaurant is equipped with griddles at every table, allowing guests to cook their food at the tables.

Eco-tours

River Cruises and Scenic Charters offer a fantastic way to discover Florida’s only American Heritage River, the St. Johns River. Tours are available at both Blue Spring and DeLeon Springs State Parks through their official partner. St. Johns River Eco Tours, operating out of Highbanks Marina & Camp Resort in DeBary, is another excellent option. Now offering twilight tours, they provide a unique opportunity to experience the river and its wildlife in a different light. If you prefer a more self-paced adventure, consider renting a houseboat for a live-aboard experience. Houseboats are available at various locations, allowing for an intimate encounter with the natural beauty and wildlife at every turn on the St. Johns River Blueway.
