Patty’s Parrot Palace in West Volusia

Located in West Volusia , Patty’s Parrot Palace is a licensed, non-profit organization, supported by corporate sponsors, “parronts,” volunteers, donors, and a bird owner membership program that allows some birds to become part of a bigger flock, giving the owner access to visit anytime, with the consolation that their bird will never be rehomed.

Started in 2010 as a place to house numerous birds that were displaced due to economical, behavioral, and other personal reasons, the sanctuary’s owner and president, Trish Koile, also hosts classes for bird training and offers one-on-one behavioral counseling for birds with bad habits or unruly personalities.

On weekends, the Parrot sanctuary invites guests to find their inner zen with the help of some of the palace’s resident goats! Getting and staying in shape with yoga is one thing, but yoga classes with certain “personalities” that insist on being at the highest possible level—at your expense—is another thing entirely!

Goat Yoga Sessions

Goat Yoga

But that’s not all! For the brave souls out there; If you think Goat Yoga is a good time, wait until you try Parrot Yoga! That’s right, while you’re getting in better shape, at least one other participant will be engaging you on a whole other level! There are moments of Zen where your “parrotner” may simply reside on your shoulder, or he might feel inclined to demand your attention by nibbling at your ear, or fluttering to the top of your head to supervise the workout. He may also start bobbing and dancing as part of his fitness routine, or dramatically express his opinion through emphatic verbal communication! Goat yoga sessions are typically on weekends and go on for 90 minutes.

Ninety-minute Parrot Yoga Classes

Parrot Yoga

If you haven’t tried Parrot Yoga, you don’t know what you’re missing! Check the Events calendar on Pattys Parrot Palace’s website for the next upcoming Parrot Yoga or Goat Yoga classes, and book your spot online. Only 20 spots are available per class and they fill up! Both goat yoga and parrot yoga participants get a tour of the sanctuary prior to their class to learn more about the conservation work that goes on there. Ninety-minute Parrot Yoga classes are offered on weekends, usually starting in the late morning.
